Damyang International Art Festival 2019 (DIAF 2019)
Through this open call for artists, the Damyang Cultural Foundation is initiating a multi-location outdoor exhibition under the title of “Damyang International Art Festival”.
The purpose of this exhibition is to raise awareness and interest to the contemporary art world, by enabling a sense of proximity through art installations and sculptures in strategic locations in Damyang, so locals and visitors from other cities or countries can approach them in an effortless and organic manner.
In order to suit Damyang’s “in the heart of nature” image, thanks to its famous bamboo forest, forest roads, parks, lakes and ponds, all art installations and sculptures should mainly use natural and possibly eco-friendly materials.
We are looking for installation artists and sculptors matching these following criteria:
- Of non-Korean nationality.
- Experience with at least one public or private art installation or sculpture.
- No academic background required.
- Of legal adult age in their specific nationality.
Requirements of the art installation or sculpture:
- Outdoor installation, that has to stand various weather conditions.
- Imperative use of natural materials (wood, bamboo, stone, earth, grass, textile, etc.). A very small use of artificial materials (metal, plastic, glass, etc.) is allowed to help structural integrity or for intentional artistic reasons.
- No minimum or maximum size limitation (if your project submission has been selected, the organizers might contact you personally to discuss about an adjustment of the overall size, for logistic or technical reasons, or for a better impact with the public).
